Aspirating is a free service that is available when you by 10 pounds or more of the same variety of cracked pecans. Aspirating involves shaking the cracked pecans to first un-attach the shell from the meat, and then special vacuum technology to suck out the loose shells. Thus, ordering cracked pecans this way will take out a lot of the work since this removes approximately 80-90% of the pecan shell! Since the shell (on average) accounts for approximately 50% of the weight of in-shell pecans, the actual weight amount of your order (per pound) will be about half. In other words, buying 10 pounds of cracked pecans with this additional free service means that you will receive approximately 5 pounds of meat, depending on the pecan variety and it's current yield.
